No options for Newfoundlanders

I have realized that we as Newfoundlanders have not much of a choice when it comes to non gm foods. I found a shopping list from Greenpeace and everything that we essentially have on our grocery shelves is gm...unfortunately according to this list Newfoundland is really lacking options to eat non gm. I went on Sobeys and Dominion web site and put in organic in the search bar and guess what there are only about 20 products that they offer that are organic. This is outside the produce isle of course. As we go shopping we look for the produce but what about pastas, peanut butter, and a wide variety of others that are not available to us. The list of GM food is huge for example; Kraft dinner, Enfalac Formulas all of them, Nestle' Good Start, Coke and Diet Coke, Labatt all kinds, Molson all Kinds, Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, Teddy Grahams, Oreo cookies, Hunts Kethup, Bacel Margarine, Skippy Peanut Butter, Mericle Whip, Dare Gummy Bears, Hurshey's Milk Choclate, Neastle' Butter Finger, and Pizza Pockets and this is to just name a very few. This angers me that we as Newfoundlanders have to feed or infants gm formula and baby foods. And since I am working at a job that shines light on the topic, I know about it...but what about all those who don't know, this is where Sam can do great work to inform others about the topic and allow them to speak up and get more options!

The event will be base...d around information sharing and networking. The first of the two events has been booked at Lake Academy in Fortune and will take place on February 18th, 2010 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Eco Tip of the Day!

Keep A Bin

Make sure your office has a paper recycling bin that's emptied regularly. If the bin starts overflowing, chances are your colleagues will stop using it.
